Winter is upon us and in cold areas it can be harder to leave doors open to bring in that cool fresh breeze. A lot of us have animals and odors in the house. The following tips will be a help to eliminate them:
Fridge Smells
A simple way to remove a fridge smell is to clean it first with soapy water and the follow up with disinfectant. If the smell persists, dip a cloth in vanilla essence and wipe of the interiors.
An open box of baking soda placed in the fridge will help soak up the smell.
Cigarette Smells
There can be over 4000 chemicals in cigarette smoke. Because the smoke contains micro-particles it
can get into everything. Including your carpet, furniture, car upholstery, etc. Sprinkle baking soda onto the area where the smell is, and allow it to sit for a few hours to ensure it soaks up the smell. Using a vacuum, preferably with HEPA filter (filters that trap particles of 0.3 micrometers), vacuum up all the baking soda. If the smell still lingers, then you should call a Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Specialist.
Coffee Pot Smells
You wake up and want a coffee, but the coffee pot smells. What do you do? Wash the pot regularly with one part vinegar to two parts water.
Bathroom Mildew
Bathrooms can get steamy and damp. To ensure that the most moisture is removed install an exhaust fan. If this is not possible a simple fan in the bathroom to move the air will work. Wash bathroom rugs, mats, and towels must regularly, so that as much moisture is out of the room. Leaving a window open will also help with steam, but remember to lock it if you leave the house.
All the above will help you keep your house and its assets smelling and looking good.
Thanks for all the great info on homemade natural cleaners. There’s a lot of I information on the web but is the best. 🙂

View CommentI love the vanilla essence tip. That’s one of those life hacks that is handed down by one’s mother. My mum suggested soaking a cotton ball in vanilla essence and cleaning it in the fridge.
View CommentYes thanks for the comment. Its a very effective fridge cleaner. I must admit though baking soda in the fridge in a little box does wonders for odors.
View CommentI didn’t know that Using a vacuum, preferably with HEPA filter (filters that trap particles of 0.3 micrometers), vacuum up all the baking soda. Helps to eliminate the smell of smoke! We will definitely be using this in our business practices.
