It was the middle of winter, but carpet emergencies can occur at any time. One of my previous clients called me up in a fluster saying that her son had split oil on the carpet. I told her that is not a problem I have been trained in advanced stain removal and I can remove that no problems. Even though she lived about an hour away – distance is not a problem for KnuWhizz Cleaning. I prepared myself and venture up to her house. Upon seeing the stain it was about half a meter wide, thankfully it had only just been done an hour or two prior.
This carpet had numerous bubblegum, paint and dirt stains on it. KnuWhizz has specialized training with basic and advanced stain removal. To remove the bubble gum stains first required special bubblegum removal chemical. This was applied liberally to the stain and given a few minutes to soak in. After this “dwell time” the cleaning technician used the Steam Vac hot water extraction machine to remove the stain with high pressure water.
What to do in a carpet Emergency?
Spills and dirt will penetrate deep into the carpet fibers over time. It is best to act quickly. For paint or bubble gum it is best to remove the foreign matter quickly, usually through blotting. If it is bubble gum then quickly remove the solid matter before it gets to stick to the carpet fibers.
Try not to spread the stain, work your paper towel or cloth from the outside inwards.
Wine Stains- Use cold soapy water and blot as much liquid up as possible. Be careful not to spread the stain.
Paint Stains- If the paint is water based you can remove the stain with cold soapy water. If the paint is oil based you may need to call a carpet cleaning professional.
For other stains please refer to the cleaning tips and tricks blogs and when in doubt call KnuWhizz for all your carpet emergencies.
